Improving Educational Outcomes
Public education is the foundation of a strong democracy and a thriving society. It empowers individuals, promotes equality, drives innovation, and creates economic stability and opportunity. But our public education system is under attack by a Trump Administration that makes no bones about wanting to dismantle it. As an elected representative, I will fight to ensure that every student in our state can access a high-quality public education by:
Reducing the growth and encouraging more regulation of charter schools.
Increasing investment in public education by raising the salaries for educators and school support services staff and reducing class sizes.
Ensuring educational opportunities during the summer for economically disadvantaged students and their families to reduce the learning and achievement gap.
Ensure accurate and effective anti-bullying and harassment prevention at schools, including mandating procedures, reporting, mitigation efforts, training, records retention, and changes to remedies for victims of severe bullying under state law.
Working to repeal or limit the impact of Colorado’s so-called Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights (TABOR), which has prevented Colorado from funding its schools at the levels they should be funded.
