Public education is the foundation of a strong democracy and a thriving society. It empowers individuals, promotes equality, drives innovation, and creates economic stability and opportunity. But our public education system is under attack by a Trump Administration that makes no bones about wanting to dismantle it. As an elected representative, I will fight to ensure that every student in our state can access a high-quality public education by:

• Reducing the growth and encouraging more regulation of charter schools.

• Increasing investment in public education by raising the salaries for educators and school support services staff and reducing class sizes.

• Ensuring educational opportunities during the summer for economically disadvantaged students and their families to reduce the learning and achievement gap.

• Ensure accurate and effective anti-bullying and harassment prevention at schools, including mandating procedures, reporting, mitigation efforts, training, records retention, and changes to remedies for victims of severe bullying under state law. 

• Working to repeal or limit the impact of Colorado’s so-called Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights (TABOR), which has prevented Colorado from funding its schools at the levels they should be funded.
